I totally agree, a band’s albums we discovered first will always hold a special place in our hearts, so rankings and lists are inevitably subjective. The important things is that we all agree that Anathema have been an amazing band! 🙂

Thanks for reading and for sharing your thoughts!
I should have probably said somewhere in the article that Anathema are one of my favourite bands (if not “the” favourite band), so I find something to like in pretty much all of their albums, which I do listen to regularly.
Eternity was particularly difficult to place in my list as I like that album quite a lot too. Bumping it up one or two positions might not have been a bad idea! 🙂
I am less positive about Distant Satellites. I do find the title-track pretty strong, but there are just too many “meh” tracks on that one for my taste!
]]>I consider them the best band ever, i really can enjoy songs of all albums, depends on the mood, so my list would probably change day by day. I don’t know how much i agree with yours, but two things i really can not understand: 1. the eternity album should be way higher up the list (might be because this was my actually getting to know them album and 2. I suggest you listen again to the distant satellites album, the titelsong and especially ‘Anathema’, that really is a masterpiece 🙂
cheers for the effort, they really deserve more credit for making great honest music
]]>Yeah, I was torn about what to do with those two. Some consider them proper full-length releases, but in my mind they are more like compilations. I like them both a lot, by the way, especially Hindsight!
