With the sheer amount of metal bands out there, it is easy to get swept away by the flood of releases every month and miss some of the true gemstones. The Metal Observer will help you dig up these gemstones with less than 100 likes on Facebook in “Metal Archeology”. Here we have Colorado, USA’s mysterious Triglathena under the microscope.

With only 20 likes to date on Facebook, the anonymous doom death project is still truly underground. However, despite only surfacing at the start of 2020, Triglathena’s name has appeared on a fine 29 minute EP Memento Novissimarum, album The Vile Silence, and a recent new track called “Terminal”, set to precede another album to be titled Our Dead Were Scattered Before They Were Ash. Thus far, all have been released independently.

Productivity may be high, but quality has been present since the start. Blending together standard doom death traits symptomatic of exposure to Morgion, Asphodelus, and My Dying Bride with the laboured funeral touch of Esoteric and Mournful Congregation, Triglathena possesses the heaviness to subdue, the emotions to ensnare, and also an unpredictable edge.
Whether the work of experienced metal practitioners or a lost soul searching for the light, it’s certain that 2020 has already proven to be a stunning year for Triglathena. Make sure to check out the band’s music on Bandcamp, where you can buy all the releases so far, and head over to Facebook to be one of the first 100 likes. Then you can claim to be one of Triglathena’s very first fans!
