We all know the Land of a Thousand Lakes and just how great and talented the Finns are at creating metal gems. But compared to the epic and northern tunes we’re all used to, what we have for you today is a rather different approach…
Meet Humavoid! Consisting of Suvimarja Halmetoja (keytar, vocals), Niko Kalliojärvi (guitar, vocals), Mikko Rousi (bass), and Heikki Malmberg (drums), this “progressive aggressive” entity has been successfully making sounds and straining necks since 2013, but never as strong as they do on their latest single “Monkey Trap”! Not only is this the band’s heaviest outing to date, but it’s also refreshingly new, featuring Suvimarja’s surprising aggressive vocal delivery, a first for the band yet still staying grounded in their already well defined sound. Serving as a stand-alone bonus release with an upcoming second album yet to be announced, this new song has more than enough to keep all hungry fans satisfied while the band’s master plan unravels behind the scenes. Have you clicked it yet?

Humavoid plays a uniquely expressive form of progressive metal that replaces the ego of said genre with a psycho heavy approach to songwriting, and an atmosphere that will make you feel like you just entered a Sci-Fi RPG. Their jazz infused keytar melodies complemented by 8 string guitar technical riffs delivered through clean crisp production, will immerse you in bombastic delight. While intricate and progressive at the core, with broken rhythm patterns and unconventional structures, this group’s music is exciting and energetic in a way that keeps it accessible to all mosh-friendly metalheads, wherever one’s genre preferences may be.
